Do you ever blame your metabolism and hormones for everything you have become every time you turn a year older? Well for about ten years I have. Especially the latter. At 33, a single mom and with a high stress-job (i owned my own company) I turned to sports and fitness. Unfortunately, I neglected to turn to nutrition for support. My weight was that of a yo-yo — it would go up and down— intentionally and unintentionally. Little did I know I was suffering from a hormonal imbalance and developed a thyroid problem that needed surgery — my right swoll and needed to be taken out immediately.
With that happening, being or feeling young, I did not bother to tweak my lifestyle one bit. A year later I was diagnosed with another hormonal condition called: Endometriosis — its when the endometrium grows outside your uterus. I had to be given medication and had to suppress my period through a monthly dosage of injections. It’s painful, inconvenient and not to mention very costly.
Yet at mid-30s still feeling invisible, carefree and young do you think I bothered to even look into my lifestyle?
Cut a long story short this dragged until my 40s which caused me to have another surgery a year after my youngest child was born.
Fast forward 10yrs after, exactly I turned 50 when I signed up for a 60-day transformation program that really let me look at my lifestyle and zeroed in on my nutrition and finally, finally understood that fitness does not outweigh nutrition at all.
Better late than never they say because the more I understood how fitness only supports nutrition and not the other way around was where I concentrated on really taking care of my body just in time for another hormonal change — menopause.
Understanding your body and the changes it constantly has to undergo these 7 foods have helped me (and I speak for Coach Bunny too) massively regulate and balance my hormones. They are whole, natural and easy to find. By slowly incorporating this to your diet, not just once, but constantly and consistently, you will feel a definite change. Try it!
Watch the short video we prepared to see what the 7 foods are ….
However, please understand that the list is not your magic list and these are not just the food you have to take or add to your nutrition for your hormones to be balanced. There are more and the more you take interest in research you will find out that there’s a long list :-).
